Application to take part in Mend It For Money - Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern applications for MEND IT FOR MONEY (working title) produced by Storyboard Studios & Chalkboard Television (“Programme(s)”) via post or online via Storyboard Studios’ application website.

“Storyboards Studios & Chalkboard Television/we/us/our” refers to Storyboard Studios Limited & Chalkboard Television and its assignees, licensees and/or affiliates.

“You/ your” refers to applicants for a Programme and users of the Application Website. These Terms and Conditions should be read in conjunction with the Privacy Policy .

Section 1: Eligibility Requirements

1.1 You must be aged 18 or over by 31 AUGUST 2020;

1.2 You must be resident of the UK (including residents of the Channel Islands and Isle of Man);

1.3 You must not be an employee, contractor or affiliate (or a recent employee, contractor or affiliate) of Storyboard Studios, Chalkboard TV or Channel 4, nor a close relative (for example, mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister) of an employee, contractor or affiliate (or a recent employee, contractor or affiliate) of Storyboard Studios, Chalkboard TV, Channel 4 or anyone working on, appearing in or connected with the Programme.

1.4 You must be able to commit to the filming days; dates TBC but provisionally September/ October / November 2020. 

1.5 All information supplied by you as part of the application for the Programme must be true and accurate.

Section 2: Taking Part in the Programme

2.1 If we decide to progress your application, entrants will need to disclose any unspent convictions. You acknowledge that we shall have the right to investigate and review the validity and authenticity of the personal information you provide (in any way that we may reasonably choose) and in the event that such investigation and/or review of the personal information reveals anything that we feel may adversely affect your suitability to participate in the Programme, we may, at our absolute discretion, exclude you from selection or discontinue your participation in the Programme.

2.2 If you are cast to participate in the Programme, you understand and agree that the casting process may require your submission to background checks (including social media searches) in order to verify any of the information you have supplied and assessments assessment of suitability to take part in the Programme. You agree to provide us with any assistance or further information necessary to do this.

2.3 You agree that if you are selected to take part in the Programme you will be required to sign full contributor agreement granting us (and our licensees and assigns including Channel 4) all necessary rights and consents for the duration  of copyright (and afterwards so far as possible in perpetuity) to copy, edit and/or use at their sole discretion the product of your contribution to the Programme for any purposes connected with the Programme, the promotion and advertising thereof and all other rights (including all allied and ancillary rights) in the Programme by any means and in any and all media now known or hereafter invented throughout the world in perpetuity.

2.4 You confirm that you are the lawful owner of the object you are applying for and/or have the authority to give the object to MEND IT FOR MONEY for repair/ restoration.

2.5 You confirm that by taking part in the Programme you give the MEND IT FOR MONEY Restorers full responsibility to do whatever the team think is necessary to repair or restore the object as they see fit. 

2.6 By taking part in the Programme you agree to the restored object being put up for sale once the restoration is completed. 

2.7 During filming and on camera, a verbal financial agreement will be reached between You and the Restorer of the object on behalf of Storyboard Studios/ Chalkboard TV regarding how the proceeds of sale are divided between both parties. This may be a percentage of the sale price but is subject to negotiation between You and the Restorer. 

2.8 A written statement of the financial agreement reached between You and the Restorer will be drafted during the filming process and both parties will sign their agreement before the restoration begins. 

3. You confirm and agree that you comply with all of the Terms and Conditions. You accept that applying to take part in the Programme, compliance with these Terms and Conditions, receiving a phone call from a member of the production team, attending a Skype interview and/or attending any recording days DOES NOT constitute an offer to appear on or automatically mean you will be appearing on the Programme.

4. You acknowledge that we have no obligation to produce the Programme and even if the Programme is made there will be no obligation on Channel 4 to broadcast or transmit or otherwise exploit the Programme or include you or any filming in the Programme.

5. It is important, during the casting process that you keep all information about the Programme confidential including all information that we disclose to you, whether verbally or in writing, including without limitation any details about other potential casting, locations, themes, Programme format and any other non-public information (“Confidential Information”). You must at all times keep all Confidential Information strictly confidential and must not give anyone any information or material or make any public statement at any time by any means (including without limitation on blogs, websites and/or social networking platforms such as Twitter, Facebook etc.) about the application process and/or the programme. This confidentiality applies and continues whether or not you are selected to take part in the Programme or remain actively involved in the Programme. You are not permitted to respond to any approach from the press or anyone else enquiring about the application process and/or anything about the programme and will refer any such enquiries immediately to Storyboard Studios/ Chalkboard TV.

6. To enter the contest you have provided us with your personal data. Storyboard Studios/ Chalkboard TV is the “data controller” of this information.

You understand we will be processing the personal data that you provide or have given access to (including that contained in your application) related to/contained in your prospective participation in the Programme (a) for compliance or legal obligations; and (b) for assessing your capacity to take part in the Programme. You acknowledge that we may need to share my personal data with producers, co-developers, affiliate and/or group companies, Programme commissioners, broadcasters and distributors and professional advisors.

You accept that where you have provided or given access to “Special Category Data” that we will or may use this solely for the purposes referred to in this Agreement.

Storyboard Studios will process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

If you raise a complaint with Storyboard Studios about the way it has handled your personal data and you are dissatisfied with the response, you are entitled to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at: https://ico.org.uk/concerns/

7. These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
